Ingredients
  

For the Gravy

  • 1 lb Breakfast Sausage Pork or turkey sausage can be used.
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour Thickens the gravy.
  • 2 1/2 cups Milk Whole or 2% milk works well.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder Optional for added flavor.
  • 1/4 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes Optional for a kick.

For the Casserole

  • 2 cans Refrigerated Biscuit Dough About 16 oz total.
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Use more for extra cheesiness.
  • Chopped Fresh Parsley or Chives For garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles until fully browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the browned sausage and stir for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk and simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
  • Cut the biscuit dough into halves or quarters.
  • Spread half of the biscuit pieces in the bottom of the greased baking dish and pour half of the gravy over them.
  • Layer the remaining biscuit pieces on top and pour the rest of the gravy. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  • Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Let it cool for about 5 minutes and garnish with parsley or chives before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
