Ingredients
  

Frosting Base

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it’s softened enough to easily whip into a cream.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, brick style Brick-style cream cheese for dense, sturdy texture.

Sweetness

  • cup powdered sugar Use sifted powdered sugar to avoid clumps.

Flavor Enhancers

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Go for pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.
  • ¼ tsp salt A dash of salt enhances sweetness and adds depth.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and cream cheese. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until smooth.
  • Add the vanilla extract and salt, mixing just until combined.
  • Gradually add in the powdered sugar starting on low speed to avoid a mess, then increase speed once most of the sugar is mixed in.
  • Mix until you achieve a fluffy, spreadable consistency.
  • If the frosting is too thick, add a splash of milk to adjust the consistency.
  • Use the frosting on your preferred baked goods.

Notes

Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Re-stir and add a bit of milk if it thickens after chilling. Can be frozen for up to a month.
