  • 1.25 cups BBQ sauce Use a smoky or honey barbecue sauce.
  • 0.5 cups Italian dressing Adds acidity and brightness.
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Enhances sauce flavor.
  • 0.25 cups light brown sugar Optional for sweetness, adjust to taste.
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper To taste.

Preparation

  • Spray crockpot with non-stick spray or use a liner.
  • Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, Italian dressing, Worcestershire sauce, and optional brown sugar.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned chicken in the crockpot and pour the sauce over it.
  • Cover and cook on high for 2.5 to 3 hours or low for 5 to 6 hours until the chicken reaches 165°F.
  • Shred the chicken using two forks and let it sit in the sauce for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can serve this BBQ chicken on toasted buns, over rice, or in a salad. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for longer storage.
