Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 1 cup warm water Must be warm, not too hot or too cold
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Can substitute with honey
  • 1 packet active dry yeast This activates the dough
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour Bread flour can be used for a chewier texture
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor

For Boiling and Topping

  • 0.25 cup baking soda For the soda bath
  • 1 beaten egg For the egg wash
  • coarse salt for topping For that signature salty finish

Preparation

  • Combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it’s frothy.
  • Stir in the flour and salt. Knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a pretzel form.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil and stir in the baking soda.
  • Dip each pretzel in the boiling water for about 30 seconds.
  • Place the pretzels in the air fryer basket, brush with the beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  • Air fry for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce—cheese, mustard, or even chocolate.

Notes

These pretzel bites are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for longer storage. Reheat in the air fryer before serving.
