  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean beef for a healthier option or higher fat for juiciness.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Low-sodium soy sauce can be used.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Can substitute with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Don’t skip for nutty flavor.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic is recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced Use fresh for best flavor; use less if using ground ginger.
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced Add as desired for garnish.
  • Cooked rice for serving Jasmine or sticky rice are traditional.
  • Sesame seeds for garnish Adds a nice touch on top.

Cooking Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned.
  • Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes until sugar dissolves.
  • Let the mixture cook for another 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  • Serve over warm rice, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Storage Tips: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of water to restore moisture.
