Ingredients
  

For the meatballs

  • 1 lb Ground beef (or turkey/chicken) Use beef for classic flavor or turkey/chicken for lighter version.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs (seasoned or plain) Panko can be used for an extra crispy texture.
  • 1 medium Finely chopped onion Chop finely for best flavor integration.
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic Essential for enhancing flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh parsley Optional: can use thyme or basil.
  • 1 tsp Salt Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper Essential for flavor.

For the gravy

  • 2 tbsp Butter For roux.
  • 2 tbsp Flour For roux.
  • 2 cups Beef broth (or vegetable broth) Cooking liquid for gravy.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Provides umami flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce Optional; for added richness.

For the mashed potatoes

  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes Best for mashing.
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream (or milk) For creamy texture.
  • 2 cloves Additional garlic (for mashed potatoes) Garlic enhances flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh herbs (such as chives or dill) For garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
  • Place meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Gravy Preparation

  • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook until bubbly.
  • Gradually add beef broth, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Once meatballs are done, add them to the skillet and let them simmer in the gravy.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  • Boil russet potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain.
  • Mash potatoes with butter, heavy cream (or milk), additional garlic, and fresh herbs.

Serving

  • Serve meatballs over garlic herb mashed potatoes and drizzle with gravy.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or chives for extra flavor and presentation.

Notes

For leftovers, store in airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat as needed. Let meat mixture sit for 30 minutes before cooking for juicier meatballs.
